This year, however, will be a different story.

In a statement released Mar. 23, event organizers made public the decision to cancel the event, which was slated to run from June. 25-28 this summer. The Rotary Club additionally stressed the importance of their slogan, “Service Above Self”, over the coming months.

“We are heartbroken to cancel the Rotary GroveFest this year, as it’s something we in our community look forward to all year long,” Rotary Club of Downers Grove president Joe Kenny said in the statement. “I’m confident we will be back in 2021!”

This latest cancellation comes as Illinois COVID-19 cases surge, with state totals approaching 7,700, and Downers Grove’s count at 18 at the time of writing.
