Ben Affleck stars as Christian Wolff in “The Accountant”, an enjoyable yet slight fall action movie directed by Gavin O’Connor.

Wolff is an eccentric accountant who finds employment with criminal organizations. Early on, Wolff finds himself wrapped up in a convoluted conspiracy by his most recent client.

As the story unfolds, the details of the narrative become more and more unclear; thankfully, plot is not the strength of this film.

The strongest pieces of the movie come when watching the way Wolff conducts business. Affleck does a good job with this role, showing the perfect blend of mysteriousness and humour, while simultaneously creating an interesting character to build off of.

The only issue with Affleck’s character is the film’s decision to make him autistic. The film doesn’t cast this condition in a negative light, but uses it simply as a plot device, without fully exploring the topic.

Overall, The Accountant offers an interesting main character, but fails to offer an entertaining, cohesive story. Affleck’s performance carries the film, more successfully than one would imagine.
