Over the homecoming weekend, the girls’ varsity volleyball team took first place at the Waubonsie Valley Invite on Friday, Sept. 23.

At the invite the team had their first match against York High School, in which they won in two sets, 25-12 and 25-19. After winning their game against York, the team had their second match of the night against Batavia, the Trojans won in two sets, 16-24 and 25-21.

On Saturday, Sept. 24th, the team won their first match against Rosary in three sets, 22-25, 25-17, and 25-19.

Beating Rosary sent the team to the semi-finals to compete in their second match against the home team, Waubonsie Valley. The girls were victorious after two close sets, 29-27 and 25-18. Beating Waubonsie Valley not only meant they beat the home team on their court, it also meant that they were going to the championship.

In the championship game, the girls beat Metea Valley in three tough sets, 25-16, 16-25 and 25-20 to win the Waubonsie Valley Invite.

On Oct. 13, the team will compete against Hinsdale South High School for their senior night match. This weekend the varsity volleyball team will be playing in the Autumn Fest at Glenbard East High School.
