Eddie the Eagle

The idea of an underdog is a common theme in movies. “Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards” stands as one the best underdog story in the history of sports and it only made sense to make it into a film.

The film tells the tale of a boy who is told his whole life he can never be an athlete, but ends up in the Olympics. Throughout his life Eddie tried to find a sport that best fit his lack of athletic skill. He eventually decided on the dangerous sport of ski jumping.

The film shined best through the story, and relying on writing over special effects. From a technical standpoint the film was nothing special. Any dullness from the technical side was overcome by how amazing Eddie’s story is. This film is a great example of a character’s story that is able to carry a film.
