Junior Blake Weltler has been a strong competitor early in the DGN girls indoor track and field season. She finished in the top five in all of her events at the Batavia Girls Invite, highlighted by a victory in the 4×200-meter relay. Weltler credits her coaches and teammates for constantly pushing her to be the best she can be.
“What has contributed the most to my performance is the consistent practices and outside work put in,” Weltler said. “As well as the support from my coaches and teammates pushing me to be better every day.”
Weltler competes and succeeds in a wide variety of events, from the 200-meter sprint to the long jump. Head coach Matthew Maletich notices her versatility and the benefit to the team.
“She’s a good jumper and a great sprinter in the 100-400 meter races,” Maletich said. “She just has a huge impact by being elite in many different areas.”
Weltler hopes to continue performing well at meets and win another conference championship. She aspires to keep improving in her events and compete collegiately after high school.
