Sophomore Macy Ermitage has been leading DGN’s girls cross country throughout the season. Ermitage finished second at the conference meet and first at the regional meet, helping the Trojans claim a Regional title.
Ermitage credits her hard work at practice and positive mindset for her success this season. Varsity girls cross country head coach Tim McDonald sees her mindset on display every day.
“She’s one of those kids who’s easy-going,” McDonald said. “She enjoys cross country and track because she gets to hang out with her friends, and she takes the right attitude towards it.”
After suffering an injury last season, Ermitage has used that setback as fuel to push harder this year.
“I think my injury from last year has motivated me to try my best the whole season and run my best to make up for what I couldn’t do last year,” Ermitage said.
Ermitage hopes to finish her season strong, with good performances in the final meets. She also hopes to build on her foundation and continue her running career in college following high school.
