AWARDED VICTORY: Tyler Tiangco (11) wins the cross town classic match against DGS Nov. 11.

Junior Tyler Tiangco has had an impressive season so far this winter with the DGN Boys Wrestling team. Tiangco has dominated in the 113 lbs weight class, taking home eight wins out of nine matches so far. In total, DGN has won two meets this season.

Tiangco attributes his improvement to his coaches and his work ethic.

“I’ve been doing good and fighting till the end in each match so far. My coaches help me improve by pushing me above my limit every day at practice.”

Tiangco’s best performance was at Yorkville when he secured the win after a neck-in-neck match. Tiangco has gone 3-0 in quad meets so far.

Tiangco’s most memorable meet was the cross-town classic against DGS. The crowd was packed with fans rooting for DGN, leaving the wrestling team feeling loved and supported by the community.

Tiangco has been wrestling for seven years, and plans to pursue the sport in college, hopefully somewhere in Wisconsin.

“My favorite part about wrestling at DGN is seeing improvement every time I step on the mat,” Tiangco said.

Tiangco hopes to make a run for state later this year in March and to continue to improve next year in his senior season.
