After 25 years of hard work and passion for keeping Scooby’s Hot Dogs alive, owners Miguel Escobedo and Mihr Patel finally got the outcome of their dreams: Hot Dog Hall of Fame. At 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 15, Vienna Beef inducted the restaurant. There was a celebration and many locals in the community joined in support.
“Last year I filled out an application that would consider Scooby’s to be in the Hall of Fame. On Monday I heard back and read that we were picked. I was filled with happiness. I felt like all the work I have put in has paid off,” Escobedo said.
Vienna Beef inducts restaurants that do honorable work while serving their hot dogs. Scooby’s is not only a fan favorite, but it also gives back to the community. From donating to the highschools to partnering with the library to give kids free hot dogs, they never fail to show their community involvement.
“Now that we are inducated Vienna Beef will help us out a lot more. If we need some hot dogs they will send the product our way and then we can continue to fulfill our customers. Without them and our workers, we could have never accomplished this, and for that, I am so thankful,” Escobedo said.
What makes Scooby’s different from other stores is that they have kept the management, menu, and recipes the same throughout Miguel and Mihr’s ownership. They serve Polish sausage, Italian beef, burgers, fries, malts and shakes, and of course hot dogs.
“I have been going to Scooby’s with my family since I was born. It is truly my favorite place to get food because it’s so good. I was really happy for them when I found out that they made it into the Hall of Fame. If any place deserves it, it would be them,” senior Braden Murphy said.
Throughout all the excitement, Scooby’s being in the media has helped their restaurant tremendously in sales. Being open since 2000, Scooby’s promises to continue feeding its customers and is thankful for everyone who helped them become Hall of Fameors.
