Senior varsity captain Ryan Wilson led his team to great success during the 2023 soccer season. Wilson played at the varsity level for all four years of his high school career, being promoted to captain his junior year.

“I learned that the most important part about being a captain is being a role model. Teammates respond best when they feel like their captain reflects the things the coach desires from him,” Wilson said.

Although the team’s season started off rough, Wilson’s leadership helped the team finish the season with ten wins and advance to the Regional finals.

“I think the biggest thing that contributed to both my success and the success of the team later in the season was how close the team was,” Wilson said. “I believe that this helped us to win games and to push each other to be the best we could possibly be.”

Wilson led the team in goals, tallying 12 on the season. He plans on continuing the sport in college, and is currently talking with multiple schools.

“He’s a great player and we are all excited to watch him succeed at the next level,” senior and teammate Will Beatty said.
