Allison Mulvey, a senior diver who qualified for state last year, set goals for the girls’ swim and dive team. “Our main goal was to get as many girls to qualify for state. junior Emma Thompson and I wanted to place top 16,” Mulvey said.

At times, Mulvey felt pressure as a leader.

“A challenge I faced was self-doubt and that I wouldn’t make it to state after an iffy practice,” Mulvey said. Her team helped maintain her confidence. “My coaches and teammates supported and cheered me up at all times,” Mulvey said.

Mulvey displayed her talent at the Neuqua Valley Invite on Aug. 26 taking first place, as well as the Trojan Invite on Sept. 16. At regionals, Mulvey placed first, receiving an 11-dive score of 467.5. This score destroyed the previous record at the Hinsdale Central pool of 422.5. Mulvey’s performance gave her a bid to state, achieving her goal.

“I was ecstatic to represent DGN and just wanted to go out with a bang to prove to myself how much I have grown in the past four years,” Mulvey said.

Mulvey placed 7th at state, ending her Trojan dive career on a high note and truly making her mark in the program.
