Stickers back anti-bullying policy

Beginning Feb. 19, “Safe Zone” stickers had been placed outside classrooms in order to show support for all students.

The stickers were funded by alum Tomlinson Holman, who donated a sum of money after being a major developer for THX sound. His grant was given to help solve LGBT+ issues that arose within the school.
Once the stickers were purchased, Prism sponsors Lois Graham and Christine Tomek hand delivered stickers to each department or teacher that requested them.

“We debated putting [the stickers] in teachers’ mailboxes and then we decided that probably wasn’t a good idea because we didn’t want people to just take it with the attached letter, throw it on their desk, and then forget about it,” Graham said.

After the idea was developed by Prism, it was discussed with Principal Scott Kasik and Associate Principal Kristin Bormann, who approved of the stickers, as long as they were not labeled with “DGN” or “North High”.

“The idea [is] that we have faculty and staff members who will defend the rights of all students to learn in a safe school environment. The safe zone sticker reflects the school’s anti-bullying policy,” Graham said.
