The Bonfield Express is a Thanksgiving tradition held in downtown Downers Grove where runners and families jog or walk the 5k race. This event brings a sense of community and holiday spirit. This year 6,260 residents participated in one of the largest annual events held in Downers Grove.
“The group is about character, commitment, and community which is the core of our brand.” Marketing and Communications for the Bonfield Express Debbie Hare said.
In 2004, the Bonfield Express was created to honor the DGS father, teacher, dean, and coach Jim Bonfield. This organization continues to grow and give generous scholarships to seniors attending Downers Grove high schools.
“People know us for our scholarships, but we also give away money to programs at District 58, District 68, as well as District 99 special needs program,” Hare said.
