District 99 donates supplies to Good Samaritan Hospital for COVID-19
March 25, 2020
In a Twitter post Tuesday, District 99 Superintendent Hank Thiele declared that a donation of Tyvek suits, respirators, goggles, and gloves would be made to Good Samaritan Hospital to help them respond to the COVID-19 crisis.
The delivery was made just after 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Thiele said that the district was able to make the donation due to a surplus in these supplies.
“We always have a surplus amount of gloves on hand for any kind of emergency situation at the school,” Thiele said. “Some of the other things like goggles and Tyvek suits are all used by our custodial and maintenance group, and it’s also excess that we have on stock.”
With the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the school community being announced yesterday, Thiele added that a District 99 statement is likely to be made by Friday about whether or not students will return to school April 8.
