Venom’s origin story would not be complete without Spider-man, or so you would think. With the new Venom solo movie out, Sony Studios decided to take a different approach when tackling the emotional origin story of Eddie Brock, played by Tom Hardy.

The film isn’t dark and gritty, nor is it scary and gory. It’s more comedic and action filled than you would expect from watching the trailers.

The villain of the movie, Carlton Drake, is played by Riz Ahmed. He is quite forgettable and didn’t really bring much to the table. Sure, he’s a billionaire who is trying to save humanity by killing innocent people and threatening anyone in his way, but that’s it.

Anne Wheying, played by Michelle Williams, is Eddie’s girlfriend. She doesn’t bring much to the table, either. All she does for the story is to help move the plot from point to point.

However, the beauty isn’t in the story but in the visual effects used to bring the anti-hero to life. Venom’s white glossy eyes, razor sharp teeth, long slimy tongue, and his dark slick shiny muscular body delights the audience for the 10 minutes we get to see him.
