Weather halted the soccer game against DGS with 18 minutes left in the second half. It was pouring rain, and the game was paused due to lightning. Teams were told to head to the fieldhouse and wait 30 minutes before the game could be resumed.
When play resumed the momentum shifted in the Trojans favor. Junior Sam Crowley scored first to put DGN within one goal of tying the game. “I think the goal kind of gave the team a little push forward and got everyone’s hopes up a little,” Crowley said.
Junior Carter Tome scored the last goal of the game to make the final score 2-2. “When I scored the goal, I got a huge adrenaline rush. I felt absolutely amazing knowing I helped bring our team back up to tie and knock the #10 team in state (South) out of the top ten. It’s a moment I’ll never forget,” Tome said.
As of Oct. 10 the Trojans record is 8-8-1. They are seeded eighth in their regional.
The Trojans’ first playoff game is on Oct. 21 at Morton against Fenwick.
