Freshman Averi Johnson has been named athlete of the month for standout play in girls flag football. Johnson has quickly emerged as a versatile player and supportive teammate for DGN’s flag football team. Her commitment shows in the way she approaches every practice and game. Head coach Colleen O’Neil believes that drive is what sets her apart.
“I think the biggest thing that stands out about her is that she always gives 110%,” O’Neil said. “She’s very committed to her growth and development within flag football as a whole.”
The effort has allowed Johnson to take on a leadership role and build strong connections with her teammates. It’s a role she’s embraced by staying positive and encouraging those around her.
“My team is like my second family. We do a really good job of lifting each other up,” Johnson said.
Beyond her athletic ability, Johnson’s dedication and positivity have elevated the entire team. Coaches believe her presence will continue to shape the DGN flag football program for years to come.
“I’m really excited to see where she goes in the program,” O’Neil said.
