Set to be bringing in customers by mid-October, Andy’s Frozen Custard has been well underway with construction the past few months. People in town have been anticipating the completion of the newest establishment being added to Downers Grove. The new addition is going to be located at 816 Ogden Avenue, in an attempt to be convenient for customers already out for dinner or errands.
“I’d probably go on a regular basis now due to the location,” senior Emerson Harres said. “It’s really close to my house, so it’s easier than having to go to Dairy Queen or Culver’s.”
As opening day draws closer, the store has already gained popularity among the students of DGN. Some have been sharing their favorite items from the menu as they await the grand opening of the establishment.
“I’m a big fan of Andy’s, so I’ll definitely be there 24/7,” freshman Dylan Green said. “I like the seasonal lemon bar concrete mix with cheesecake. The lemon flavor and the cheesecake work really well together.”
However, it had been brought to the attention of future customers that opening was pushed back from Aug. to Oct. Andy’s marketing manager Lindsey Oettel dove deeper into why this could have been the case, considering many factors.
“Ground-up site development is a very complex process and often you can encounter unforeseen conditions and weather delays that affect progress,” Oettel said. “We are working to complete the project with the quality and safety standards.
Despite the small complications with construction, this has not stopped the Andy’s corporation from attempting to do everything in their power to serve the Downers Grove community as soon as possible.
“We currently operate 179 locations nationwide and are extremely excited about Downers Grove, a community that Andy has wanted to be a part of for many years,” Oettel said. “We hesitate to speculate about sales ranking, but it checks a lot of boxes that we need to be successful.”
