At the 66th Grammy Awards February 4, superstar Taylor Swift became the first artist in the history of the Academy to win “Album of The Year” four times, which she received for “Midnights.” However, making history wasn’t the most shocking moment from Swift during the night, which came in her acceptance speech for “Best Pop Vocal Album.”
“I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19th,” Swift said.
Titled “Tortured Poets Department,” the new album marks Swift’s eleventh studio album and is listed in the synth-pop genre. After several red herrings on the singer’s Instagram account, website, and wardrobe choices, fans speculated the release of “Reputation: Taylor’s Version,” but were misled.
Taking a page out of her own book, Swift announced the completely new album (rather than re-recorded version) in a way resembling “Midnights,” which she revealed at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Tortured Poets Department” is scheduled for release right as Swift embarks on the international leg of “The Eras Tour” which will likely continue to add to Swift’s overwhelming success.
