Hey, students! This is a series of news columns by me, Omega Editor-in-Chief and District 99 Board of Education Student Representative Sam Bull, that is designed to inform you, the DGN student body, of the most relevant changes, decisions, and updates from the most Board of Education meeting. In other words: this is exactly what you need to know from every Board meeting!
There wasn’t as much new information in this Board meeting compared to the monstrosity that was the last one, but here’s what you need to know:
Master Facility Plan Updates:
DGN has completed new chemistry and multi-purpose rooms! Construction on the southeast corner of the building as well as the roof of the commons area has also continued. The glass ceiling above the commons area will be put into place soon! Check out the slideshow above for a closer look.
Returning to in-person learning:
We are still in the “moderate” risk category, and everything is on track to return to school the week after next (Oct. 19) with the Modified Hybrid schedule. If we begin to move towards the “substantial” risk category, the District will have conversations with and take guidance from the Illinois Department of Health about where to go and what to modify from there.
As of right now:
- Freshmen return today (Oct. 6), following the Modified Hybrid Schedule. Grades 10-12 will continue to follow the Fully Remote Schedule for this week.
- Next week will be Fully Remote for everyone. There is no school for anyone Oct. 12 or 16, and no school for grades 9-11 on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
- Seniors will come into the building Oct. 14 to take the SAT. More information about the day’s logistics will be sent to seniors soon.
- All students who did not/will not elect to stay fully remote will return to school the week of Oct. 19 following the Modified Hybrid schedule.
